The print on labels can be affected by various external influences. Especially during outdoor use, labels are exposed to weather conditions and UV radiation. Sweat and friction, for example when using tools, can also cause the print to wear over time. Although high quality printing ensures that labels last well under these conditions, their lifespan can be extended by several years.
UV resistant labels
How do you make labels UV resistant? By applying an additional UV laminate over the label. This extra layer not only protects the print from UV radiation but also shields the label from friction or chemicals.
Why are laminates approximately 1 mm smaller than labels?
To be precise, the protective laminate is 1.5 mm smaller than the label. This ensures that the laminate stays securely in place for years and keeps the label free from dirt. If the laminate were the same size or larger than the label, dirt would eventually accumulate between the laminate and the label. And that is exactly what a protective laminate is designed to prevent. In addition, applying the label is much easier when there is a small margin around it.
