Lockout Tagout
In Europe, multiple regulations require that energy sources must be shut down and locked out during maintenance and repair activities: Lockout Tagout. During Lockout, various types of installations and energy points are physically secured. This includes locking handwheel valves, gas cylinders, electrical installations, or valves so they cannot be activated while work is being carried out. Tagout indicates that work is in progress. This is typically implemented using highly durable tags that provide on-site information about the activity, including what is taking place, the reason, the duration, and who is responsible.
