Both the upper and lower floors are surrounded by glass, allowing plenty of natural light to enter, giving us a bright, open workspace where we can enjoy the sunshine while we work. Above us, the roof holds no fewer than 303 solar panels, which help power our warehouse, charge electric vehicles, and even keep the coffee machine running. To ensure a comfortable and healthy work environment, the automatic climate control system maintains optimal light and air quality, creating the perfect atmosphere for everyone to work in.
We’re proud that many of our colleagues come to Altec by bike. After all, the simplest way to drive more sustainably is to drive less. Our bicycle plan is one of our standard employee benefits, and for those who prefer to run to work, there’s a shower and changing room available to freshen up. Prefer to come by electric car? Creating a pleasant work environment is important to us. Our office is filled with real plants that provide oxygen and maintain healthy humidity levels. But our care for life doesn’t stop at our walls. We’ve placed several nesting baskets in the nearby park to give ducks a safe place to breed, and bees, butterflies, and other insects can spend the winter in our insect hotel, located in our garden, which is planted with pollinator-friendly greenery. In this way, we actively support biodiversity in our surroundings.
Tjommie means friend in South Africa, and we’re proud to be a Tjommie of the Tjommie Foundation. This local charity supports children growing up in South Africa’s townships, offering them the help they so urgently need. At Altec, we’re happy to contribute to Tjommie’s mission, helping children living in poverty build a brighter and more promising future.
