Simply put, an ink ribbon is just a film coated with ink. It’s a long, rolled-up layer of film on which the ink has been applied. During printing, the ink ribbon and label material pass together under the printhead. The printhead heats the ribbon, causing the ink to bond with the label and produce a razor-sharp print. This process is known as Thermal Transfer Printing. All Altec ink ribbons are extensively tested under various conditions and on different materials, ensuring consistently excellent results.
