Container labels

Shipping containers and other freight containers are used worldwide for the transportation and storage of goods. Clear identification is essential for quickly recognizing, tracking and managing containers. To achieve this, containers are marked with information such as ISO 6346 container numbers, barcodes, QR codes and other identifiers. Because containers are exposed daily to UV radiation, moisture, dirt, temperature fluctuations and intensive use, this information must remain legible for extended periods. Our container labels are designed for these demanding conditions and provide durable identification.

Container labels according to ISO 6346

ISO 6346 container numbers are used worldwide for container identification. This international standard ensures uniform container registration across logistics systems. A container number consists of an owner code, category identifier, serial number and check digit. To keep this information legible over time, durable container labels are used that can withstand the harsh conditions containers are exposed to on a daily basis.

Industrial vinyl labels

Industrial vinyl is widely used for ISO 6346 container labels. The material is designed for long term outdoor use and remains colourfast and clearly legible for up to 7 years. Thanks to its flexibility, it adheres well to slightly curved or uneven container surfaces. For an even longer service life, the label can be protected with a laminate. Industrial vinyl is available as die-cut labels in fixed sizes and as continuous labels on 25 metre rolls. This makes it possible to create larger labels that remain readable from greater distances.

CSC labels (Container Safety Certificate)

In addition to container numbers, containers used for international transport must be fitted with a CSC label (Container Safety Certificate). These labels contain safety and inspection information demonstrating that the container complies with applicable international safety regulations.

Suitable materials for CSC Labels

Both Industrial rating plates and Print & Protect labels can be used for CSC labels. Print & Protect labels are made from high quality polyester and feature a protective laminate that shields the print from UV radiation, moisture and various chemicals. Industrial rating plates provide a durable alternative with the appearance of a traditional metal nameplate and are resistant to oils and a range of chemicals.
